Dial-up Connection (including AOL 6.0 and above)

If you use a dial-up connection (a modem and a regular phone line) OR you use America Online (AOL) 6.0 or above as your Internet Service Provider (ISP).

Local Area Network Connection

If you use a dedicated connection such as LAN, Cable, or DSL.  Some dial-up ISPs and free ISPs might require this connection type as well.

AOL Connection (4.0 and 5.0 only)

If you use a dial-up connection (a modem and a regular phone line) AND you use AOL (versions 4 or 5 only) as your ISP.
