  1. What is Internet Call Manager (ICM)?

    Internet Call Manager is the cost-effective solution to the problem of missed calls while your phone line is busy because you're on the Internet. It is ideal for anyone who wants the freedom to be on-line. You can comfortably do everything you do on the Internet worry-free while ICM monitors your telephone line.

    When someone calls you while you're on the Internet, the call is forwarded to an ICM server. The ICM server collects the caller's information and sends it across the Internet to your computer screen. A pop-up window shows you information about the caller, and allows you to choose one of the following options:

    • Answer - You will be disconnected from the Internet, and the call will be sent to you through your phone line.
    • Transfer - Transfer the call to another number, like a cell phone, and continue your Internet session..
    • Play a Message - Click this option and you'll have the choice of playing your caller one of a variety of messages. You can customize these yourself!
    • Voice Mail - Send callers to your Cincinnati Bell Voice Messaging System, if you subscive to this service. Otherwise, you can choose:
      • Ignore - Your caller will hear ringing and you can continue your Internet session in privacy.

    ICM also allows you to set nicknames for callers and choose how to automatically handle calls. You can customize ICM to work whichever way suits you best!

  2. How does ICM work?
  3. The ICM software (once downloaded and installed) runs on your computer. When you are on the Internet, this ICM software connects to our ICM server. This is how ICM knows where to send your calls. The Status Indicator Light on your ICM Main Window or on the System Tray icon will be green or yellow when your software is connected to our server. For ICM to work, your calls must reach our ICM server when you're on-line - the same server to which your ICM software connects. We do this by arranging, a Call Forwarding service on your phone line. When someone calls you, the call is forwarded to our server, where the information about the caller is captured and then displayed to you through an Incoming Call Pop-up window. You can then choose how you want to handle the call.

  4. How much does ICM cost?
  5. Internet Call Manager is $7.00 per month, which includes a support feature called Call Forward Busy.

  6. What do I need to use ICM?
  7. The minimum system requirements for ICM are:

    • An IBM compatible computer, with a 486 processor or better;
    • Windows95, Windows98, Windows 2000, Windows Me, Windows NT4 (SP 3 or greater), or Windows XP; Note: Other operating systems such as Macintosh and Linux are not supported at this time.
    • An Internet connection of at least 14.4 kbps. ICM works with all standard Internet Service Providers, including AOL 4.0, 5.0, 6.0, and 7.0;
    • ICM software downloaded and installed on your computer; and
    • The Call Forwarding phone feature, known as Call Forward Busy (CFB), so your calls are forwarded to our server while you're on the Internet.

  8. Will ICM monitor ALL of my calls when I'm on the Internet?
  9. Yes, ICM monitors all of your incoming calls while you are on the Internet, long distance or local.

    When someone calls you, an ICM pop-up window will appear on your computer screen with information about the caller, and allow you to choose how you want to handle the call.

  10. Will ICM work with all Internet Service Providers (ISPs)?
  11. ICM works with all standard Internet Service Providers, including free ones!

  16. Does ICM work with WebTV?
  17. Unfortunately, at this time, ICM does not work with WebTV.

  18. I feel uncomfortable downloading your software. Is it safe?
  19. Downloading our software is both secure and private. All of our software is developed on the premises, and all of our machines are continuously scanned for viruses, so we can assure you our software is safe.

  20. Do you sell any personal information?
  21. Please refer to our privacy statement for more information.

  22. Can ICM accept faxes?
  23. If a fax is sent to your phone number while you are on the internet, you will receive notification that you have an incoming call. Unless you recognize the number, you will not be told that it is a fax machine. Thus, the fax cannot be received since your phone line is busy. Since most fax machines make multiple attempts to send a fax, you can disconnect immediately and wait for the fax to be re-sent.
